I rode the bike a bit; it was just a nice evening workout. I rode up Goldstein to Nash and eventually up to the Forrest Service sign up Hylaite Canyon. Then I came home down 19th. It was a decent little ride, probably about 15-20 miles.
The main thing that I noticed was that my seat was a little too low and I was working a little too hard to do the riding that I was doing. For next time I need to raise my seat a little bit.

Post 8/20-- Arkel T-42's
I just received the Arkel T-42 panniers for my bike. They look like they should be really solid and I'm definitely stoked to try them out on some shorter rides!

First Bike Training Post-- 8/15
Today, at about 1 p.m. I went for a little bike ride. I started at my apartment (the usual genesis) and rode to Four Corners and a little further out towards Norris-- out to a road I believe was called Visser Road. The total mileage was not too far, maybe about 20 or 25 miles.
Unfortunately my mind just was not in it today. I kept getting very frustrated with the wind (headwind on the way out), some of the traffic, my gear shifts, the weather (extremely cold for August), and other personal things. I've been amazed this summer to find the importance of being in a good mindset when I ride. Having a strong mentality can make some rides very enjoyable and others pure hell; today was closer to pure hell.
Next time when I ride I need to work on enjoying myself by remembering that while I am hoping to get into better shape and do longer rides I'm mainly out there to enjoy being outdoors and getting good exercise. Taking the time to realize where I'm at, in beautiful Montana, can be just as much fuel for me as drinking water.

Blog Purpose Statement
In addition to my literature blog I will now be keeping a blog devoted to my exploits on the bicycle. I know it may seem silly because I doubt anyone who reads this (if anyone reads this) will really care. But let me tell you what, it's really going to help me train by assisting me in realizing what I'm doing wrong, what I'm doing right, what I struggle with, what I succeed at and what I'm actually doing.
Unlike my literature blog I will not be posting pictures that I find on google image search. I will only post pictures if I actually take them while I'm biking or of my bicycle or things like that. If this interests you, please comment me on this blog site or on facebook. I would love to get advice and support from anyone out there!
See you on the road,
Adam Benson
